Hockey 1980 United States Hockey Team To Reunite in Lake Placid by Staff Post February 16, 2015 AP Photo All of the current living members of the 1980 United States Hockey Team will reunite in Lake Placid, NY this weekend to mark the 35th anniversary of the Miracle on Ice. According to USA Hockey and Lake Placid officials it will mark the first time all living players will be together in Lake Placid since they won the gold on February 22, 1980. A Relive the Miracle Celebration is set for Saturday February 21, in the arena where the game was played 35 years ago. The evening will conclude with raising of Bob Suter’s jersey to the rafters of the now named Herb Brooks Arena. Suter, the first player from the team to pass away, died of a heart attack this past September, at the age of 57. The Herb Brooks Arena will open its doors to fans at 7:30 pm on Saturday for an exclusive event with the players. Fans who still have their authentic 1980 Winter Olympic memorabilia are encouraged to wear it. Former team member Dave Christian said, “To be able to share our story with fans has always been a pleasure, and given the 35th Anniversary is in 2015, this seems like a great idea to reach as many people as possible. Honestly, sharing the stories never gets old, because it always ends with a smile on someone’s face.” The event, which is part of the eighth annual Hockey Weekend Across America weekend, a three day nationwide celebration of the sport, beginning on Friday February 20. As part of the final day of HWAA on Sunday, NBC presents its Hockey Day in America coverage, featuring a NHL triple header and their live studio show from Lake Placid. General Admission for the Saturday event is $19.80. A VIP Experience is available for $250 per person, which includes; a locker room tour with a member of the 1980 team, table side floor seats for the main event with snacks and beverages and a post event reception with the team. Tables of eight or more cost $2000. For ticket information contact Jackie Kelly at 518-302-5375 or email jkelly@orda.org.
