Basketball 8th Edition of Steve Nash Foundation Showdown Hits New York This Week! Steve Nash Foundation Showdown, Wednesday June 24, 2015. by Jackie Daly June 23, 2015 Sports fans unite! Wednesday June 24, 2015 two-time NBA MVP Steve Nash will host the Steve Nash Foundation Showdown! Starting at 4PM, Sara D. Roosevelt Park in NYC will be flooded with basketball and soccer fans, gearing up for the Showdown with the GNC Live Well FanFest. The Showdown, kick off at 6:30PM, includes professional athletes, all friends of Nash, competing in an affable soccer match. This charity game is to benefit the Steve Nash Foundation. General admission is open to the public, and free of charge. VIP on-field packages and seating are available for purchase at SteveNash.org/Showdown. The Steve Nash Foundation is dedicated to assisting undeserved children in their health, personal development, education, and enjoyment of life. There is a focus on child abuse prevention & strategies, as well as early childhood development. In previous years, the showdown roster of players has been nothing short of amazing. In honor of Steve Nash, I would like to name drop just a few of last summer’s attendees; NBA players Joakim Noah (CHI), Chris Bosh (MIA), Kyrie Irving (CLE) and Klay Thompson (GSW), MLS and international player Thierry Henry (NY), Robbie Rogers (LA), and Claudio Reyna (Team USA). The Showdown this year is sponsored by GNC, Cyber Dust, MLS, Under Armor, Jet Blue, TAG Heuer, Windows, Body Armor, Jawbone, Uni-Sport, Kicks to the Pitch, and Phebe’s Tavern and Grill. During the game, two players will be given Don’t Crack Under Pressure MVP Award and the Spirit of Showdown Award, both presented by Tag Heuer. The Lower East Side is in for a special treat this coming Wednesday night!
