A Powerful Combo: Premier Boxing Champions and Manny Pacquiao Team Up

Turning 40 in December, Pacquiao could finally be returning to the U.S. for one last ride

With deals going left and right for the best boxer’s out there, Al Haymon’s Premier Boxing Champions wasn’t going to be left in the dark. In what could be the last run of his boxing career, Manny Pacquiao has come to an agreement with the organization.

In a press release, it was stated that PBC will house the current WBA Welterweight World Champion. MP Promotions will do all of the necessary promoting for his fights.

Said Pacquiao in a press release:

“I’m very excited about this new chapter in my career and I’m looking forward to a fresh start. I’m reinvigorated by the prospects of bringing up new fighters under the MP Promotions banner. My team will work closely with Al Haymon for the remainder of my career to deliver the most anticipated fights with the top PBC fighters. Those are the fights the fans want to see and the ones I want to have to close out my career.”

The current Senator of the Philippines will be able to bring forward multiple fighters from his home country to the boxing world via Premier Boxing Champions.

One of the most recognizable names in boxing today, Pacquiao (60-7-2) has done it all. After losing to Floyd Mayweather back in 2015, Manny has gone 3-1. That one loss was a controversial unanimous decision against Jeff Horn in 2017. He rebounded in a big way back in July, defeating Lucas Matthysse via TKO for the WBA Title. These were all under the Top Rank banner on ESPN and ESPN+. With nothing left for him there, Premier Boxing Champions swooped in and took the boxing great.

The deal opens the door for the rumored bout against Adrien Broner in January. ESPN was the first to report it would take place on January 19 in the U.S., the first time in two years Manny has fought in America. The reason for the exile? An eight-figure debt to the IRS. The hope is that everything will be worked out by then. If not, a fight may take place in international waters, or not at all.

Turning 40 in December, Manny still has something to give to the boxing world. It is a testament of his durability and the desire for a fighter of his caliber.
