Baseball A-Rod Back and Better Than Ever A-Rod has already hit four home runs this season. by Stephen Ur April 20, 2015 Kim Klement, USA TODAY Sports While Alex Rodriguez may still not be liked by many MLB fans, as well as some Yankees fans, he doesn’t seem to care. He doesn’t seem to hear the boos and jeers of those who only want to remind him of his days of doing drugs. The only thing he’s been hearing during this young MLB season is the crack of the bat when he hits the ball over the wall in any stadium. A-Rod has hit four home runs this season, two of which came in Saturday’s game against the AL East rival Tampa Bay Rays. After the game in Tampa, Rodriguez became the team leader in home runs (4), RBIs (11), OBP (.432) and hits (11), according to Sports Illustrated. Not only is he making his name be heard this season, he is also looking to make history as fast as he can. With the four home runs he has hit this season, he is now just three home runs behind the great Willie Mays for fourth all-time on the home-run list, which will put him behind three of baseball’s greatest, Babe Ruth, Hank Aaron and Barry Bonds. Bonds, who’s the all-time leader in home runs, says he can’t wait for A-Rod to hit number 660. He is also shocked that the Yankees will not be celebrating when the record is broken. “When Alex (Rodridguez) hits 660, I’ll be happy for him. Willie (Mays) will be happy for him. Everyone should be happy for him,” Bonds told USA Today Sports. Whether or not A-Rod is praised for his milestone, he should be happy for himself. Reaching a milestone of any kind is a good feeling. Reaching a milestone in Sports is that more exceptional because he will be passing an all-time great on the home-run list. If A-Rod continues to play the way he has been playing thus far, he could be the newest all-time home run leader within the next year or two. He is now only 106 home runs away from Bonds’ mark.
