Adam Cole – NXT TakeOver (Cageside Seats)

In an event that was made to celebrate the past, one man crashed the party to proclaim he is the future of NXT. That man was Adam Cole, Bay Bay! Along with former Ring of Honor members Bobby Fish and Kyle O’Reilly, Cole made his WWE debut at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn and attacked new NXT Champion Drew McIntyre.

Saturday night’s TakeOver might have been the best one to date, but that is for another time. With independent wrestlers shining on the biggest stage, it was only fitting the hottest talents around left their mark one day before SummerSlam.

It was confirmed by PW Insider that Adam Cole had signed a deal with WWE. It was only a matter of when we would see him and how he would be presented. Pro Wrestling Sheet also shared a picture of Cole with several members of the NXT roster boarding a plane to Brooklyn. The chess game continued. Now normally, a new talent would sit with the crowd and get a simple reaction. McIntyre did it, as did Bobby Roode, Asuka and others. Not this time. The rumored Ring of Honor-like stable made an impact right away last night, starting a war. Adam Cole became the third man, and the crowd went wild.

This is a great moment for Cole, who is one of the best professional wrestlers in the world today. He is the only three-time ROH World Champion, and he has worked with the members of reDRagon before. Since getting kicked out of the Bullet Club and leaving ROH, Cole has been the most sought-after man in professional wrestling. Give him a chance in WWE and the man could break down the entire glass ceiling.

The possibilities are endless on where this story could go. Can Cole recruit talent from the main roster, like best friend Kevin Owens? They were both members of PWG’s Mount Rushmore of Wrestling. How about Mike Bennett and Maria, who were a part of The Kingdom with Cole before the latter joined the Bullet Club? Will the trio remain just that and be The Shield 2.0?

NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn was just the gateway to something bigger. WWE programming just became must-watch TV, and it’s all thanks to Adam Cole, Bay Bay!
