AJ Styles (WWE Twitter) There are times when WWE can actually be unpredictable. House shows are the best venues for surprises. There could be a heel turn, return or a championship change at any moment. It’s quite rare nowadays but when done right, it’s phenomenal. Speaking of, AJ Styles did the latter of the three at WWE’s house show in New York City in Madison Square Garden. Styles pinned Kevin Owens to become the new United States Champion. WWE posted a video of the match between the two. Owens kicked out of a Styles Clash, but AJ came right back with a Phenomenal Forearm to seal the deal. The crowd at The Garden were shocked and ecstatic all at the same time. Who would have thought they would be witnessing history last night? httpss://www.youtube.com/watch?v=337RmMwGaY0 The win is a huge surprise considering WWE’s recent plans. AJ Styles just won a number one contender battle royal to earn the right to face Owens at Battleground later this month. This definitely changes things, and maybe for the better. AJ holding the belt provides various opportunities going forward. If a rematch is set for the PPV later this month, there will be more incentive for people to see it. It also is a great marketing plan to get people to go to the house shows. The “anything can happen” vibe will get people running to the computer to buy tickets right when they arrive. Whether AJ retains the title or not the next time these two fight is unknown. This is Styles’ second major WWE title since joining the company in 2016, the first being the WWE Championship. It’s now the “Face that Runs America” era, and fans should be very excited. Post Views: 2,851 The following two tabs change content below.BioLatest Posts Daniel Yanofsky Baseball Editor, Misc.
