Alex Smith Cleared For A Return To Football

Alex Smith takes a major step in his comeback story

The last two years for Washington Football Team quarterback Alex Smith have been a grueling journey both mentally and physically. In an emotional video, his family celebrated the defeat of an injury that put his career and even life, at risk.

On November 18, 2018, Smith suffered multiple fractures in his right leg after taking a hit during a game against the Houston Texans. The injuries lead to life-threatening sepsis, where the bodies response to an infection causes injury to tissue and organs. A blood clot eventually formed and doctors were ready to amputate his leg.

After 17 surgeries and months on months of rehab, Smith was cleared to continue football activities and has overcome one of the most gruesome injuries in football history.

Despite the severity of his injuries, Alex Smith continued pushing hard with the end goal of making an NFL return. He may not be the starting quarterback for Washington to begin the season, but a return behind center would make a thrilling comeback story.
