Soccer Alexandru Mitrita new striker of New York City FC by Stefano Bentivogli February 4, 2019 Great day for New York City FC. The Blues announced today that Alexandru Mitriță has joined the club. For some time there was talk of the strong interest of New York City FC for the Romanian striker, and today the official arrival of his passage to the City has arrived. Alexandru Mitrita is a very versatile player who can play all the roles in attack. The 23-year-old Romanian striker is already in Abu Dhabi with his new teammates. Mitrita has also released his first statements to the site of his new club: “I’m very happy to be a part of this team and I’m looking forward to getting started. It is a great joy for me and I will do my best to play at a high level. I want to make everyone who believes in me proud that we were able achieve this transfer. “I know this is a good group and I’m going to a Club where young players can develop and grow. The team has a very good coach who has experience with lots of great clubs in Europe. “MLS is a very strong league, otherwise I would not have come here. I don’t want to say too much now in terms of goals and objectives, I prefer to see how things progress. I want to take things step-by-step and give my all in every match and we will see what we can achieve together.” Mitrita is a player already with a good experience. He played in Italy in Serie B with Pescara, also winning a promotion in Serie A. He scored 2 goals in 34 games between Serie A and B. Subsequently Mitrita returned home by signing with Universitatea Craiova where the player showed great things: 16 goals and 4 assists in 38 appearences. The good performance also earned him the call-up to the Romanian national in which he made his debut in 2018, collecting 6 appearances.
