Pro Wrestling An all-women’s PPV? What will Stephanie McMahon’s huge announcement be? Will another chapter in the evolution of the Women’s Revolution be made with one announcement by Stephanie McMahon? by Daniel Yanofsky July 23, 2018 Tonight is the night! History could be made, as Stephanie McMahon makes a huge announcement on Monday Night Raw? What could it be? Knowing previous ones, it could very well be something that changes the face of women’s wrestling forever. According to Pro Wrestling Sheet, WWE is planning on having an all-women’s PPV event. It would be set to take place at the NYCB’s Nassau Coliseum sometime in either September or October. This would reportedly compensate for the Greatest Royal Rumble event in Saudi Arabia, where no women competed as they were not allowed to participate. If true, this would be a game-changing announcement for women’s wrestling. This won’t be the first time an all-women’s event was produced in wrestling, however. As discussed on The Main Event, Shine Wrestling has been doing so for years, as has Shimmer, Stardom and, most famously, GLOW. Impact Wrestling even had a One Night Only event featuring the women. This would be the first time a major pro wrestling promotion like WWE would produce an event in the United States. If the event was to take place, what would be included? It is being reported that the introduction of Women’s Tag Titles will be announced. There could also be a winner crowned at the potential event. It is an innovated concept for WWE, as they have a lot of women both on the main roster and NXT who haven’t been used to their full potential this year. A tag team scene could change all of that, even if that would mean an extra title added to WWE’s wide collection of championships. Another potential marketing match for the event could be the finals of the Mae Young Classic. Last year, Kairi Sane won the finals of the MYC after an episode of SmackDown Live. Now, with rumors of a women’s-only event, the tournament can get its just due and potentially main event in front of an active, aware audience. Thinking of the possibilities, you can have dream matches with current stars, and maybe even former ones. Imagine Ronda Rousey appearing on Long Island, and you have yourself a sold-out show right there. Once Stephanie’s music hits, the announcement, regardless of what it entails, will be another deserving opportunity for women’s wrestling. Stay tuned.
