Fordham circled this game on their schedule and by the results, they were ready for the big stage. The Fordham Rams rolled the Holy Cross Crusaders  54-14 at Yankee Stadium.  Over 20,000 fans were in attendance and what must of felt like a true home game for the Rams, with all the fans wearing Maroon in the Stadium. Fordham alum and New York Yankee announcer Michael Kay presented the Rams with the Ram-Crusader Cup.

The Rams now lead the all-time Ram-Crusader Cup series, 16-15, and have won the past five meetings with Holy Cross

The Rams wasted no time getting on the board first. Junior running back Chase Edmonds hit a home run with a 41-yard rushing touchdown to put the Rams up 7-0 after their first drive of the game, quickly taking care of his four-game drought. After being held to just 73 yards on the ground against Colgate last week.  That early touchdown set the tone for the rest of the game. After the defense got a  quick three and out, and just like that  the Rams were up 14-0 and never looked back.

Fordham’s Offensive Leaders  Came Out To Play

Chase Edmonds and Kevin Anderson were the dominate one two punch that has lead Fordham’s offense all season long. Anderson had his best game of the season, going 28 for 33 for 426 yards and three touchdowns.

Edmonds finished with 119 yards and four touchdowns on 23 carries. Those 119 yards put his career total at 5,104, making him Fordham’s first 5,000-yard rusher. The four rushing scores bring Edmond’s career total to a Patriot League-record 59 as he surpasses Colgate’s Jordan Scott, who ran for 57 touchdowns from 2005-08.

The Defense Locked Down Holy Cross

The defense also played a big role in the win, holding Holy Cross to minus-five rushing yards, the second time this season that a Fordham opponent did not gain positive net rushing yardage.  While the crusaders were able to gain 300 yards threw the air, they only mustered up 14 points.

George Dawson led the defense with six tackles, including one sack and he broke up three passes, while Justin Vaughn made five stops, four solo, including 1.5 for loss and Manny Adeyeye finished with four tackles, including two sacks and a forced fumble.

What’s Next  For The Rams ?

With the victory, Fordham improves to 7-3 overall on the year, 4-1 in the Patriot League, while Holy Cross falls to 4-7 overall, 2-4 in the league. Fordham improved its Bronx winning streak to 11, with their last home loss coming against Villanova on Sept. 12 of last season.

While the Rams have been eliminated from Patriot League title contention, they still have an outside shot at an FCS playoff berth, though they will need another dominant win in their season finale against Bucknell next Saturday.
