Atlantic City AFL Team Announces Coaching Staff

Two-time Arena Football League Coach of the Year, Ron James, will lead the league’s newest franchise in 2019. Atlantic City AFL (AC AFL), made the official announcement through a press release Thursday.

The new AFL franchise will make its Arena Football League debut for the 2019 season, which is set to begin in April.

James has experience as both a head coach and assistant coach in the AFL. He began his head-coaching career in the AFL in 2004, as the Head Coach of the Las Vegas Gladiators. After one season in Las Vegas, James joined the staff of the Utah Blaze as an assistant coach. He would spend three years in that role before being named to the position of Head Coach for the team in 2008.

In 2016, James was named Head Coach of the Tampa Bay Storm. James earned his second AFL Coach of the Year honors, after leading the Storm to a 10-4 regular season record, and an ArenaBowl XXX appearance.

Joining James on the AC AFL coaching staff will be Shane Stafford (Offensive Coordinator), Sergio Gilliam (Defensive Coordinator), Caesar Rayford (Defensive Line and Linebackers Coach), and Brandon Lang (Director of Player Personnel).

The franchise will play their home games at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, NJ.
