Average Price Of Secondary Market Jimmy V Classic Tickets Over $100

Madison Square Garden will host another edition of the Jimmy V Classic, a four-team one-night only basketball showcase between four recognizable college basketball programs. The showcase, which ultimately has the objective of raising money for The V Foundation for Cancer Research, will have the West Virginia Mountaineers face the Virginia Cavaliers, followed by the Maryland Terrapins and the Connecticut Huskies playing the latter half of the doubleheader.

All four teams have been ranked in at least one point this season, with Maryland ranking the best at No. 2. According to this week’s USA Today Coaches Poll, the only team not ranked is Connecticut after back-to-back losses during a tournament over the holiday weekend, with Virginia ranking at No. 10 and West Virginia holding a No. 15 rank.

Secondary market Jimmy V Classic ticket prices have been pretty steady for the weeks leading up to the event. According to, the average ticket price had an up-and-down three-day swing starting on November 9th when the average price was $117.67. One day later it rose to $183.30 before falling back down to $108.95. The average ticket price has stayed consistent since then, and is currently yielding an average ticket price of $117.39 with a get-in price of $25. Fans supporting their teams away from home can book a flight to New York City through, with most major airlines providing a multitude of options from every major city or airport.

The Mountaineers are a perfect 6-0 but have only played against one opponent that will be in contention for an NCAA Tournament bid. West Virginia has wins against Northern Kentucky, James Madison, Stetson, Bethune-Cookman, Richmond and most recently, San Diego State. Virginia had an early season upset by the hands of George Washington but has cleaned it up since, and only allowed more than 60 points one time in the four games after the loss. Virginia will be tested one more time before the Jimmy V Classic, facing Ohio State on the road during the ACC-Big 10 Challenge.

Maryland is also perfect but will also have a tough road game before the Jimmy V Classic, as they hit the road in a high profile top-10 game against the North Carolina Tar Heels during the ACC-Big 10 Challenge. UConn has ranked in the preseason AP Top 25, but as mentioned earlier, lost back-to-back games to Syracuse and Gonzaga to bring their record to 4-2 heading into this week.
