BaseballBanuelos Rocked In Binghamton; Thunder Lose Third Straight! by Staff Post June 18, 2011 Despite hitting three home runs the Trenton Thunder (39-28) were on the wrong side of a 10-4 score against the Binghamton Mets ( 22-43) last night in Binghamton. It was the third straight loss for the Thunder who previously lost the last two games against the Harrisburg Senators at Waterfront Park.Thunder starter Manny Banuelos (2-1, 3.49) lost his first game since August 23, 2010, which was his debut in Double –A baseball. Banuelos was chased in the fourth inning after allowing five runs and staking the Mets to a 5-0 lead.The Thunder roared back in the fifth inning on the power of a Jose Gil solo blast to left field, then Corban Joseph walked and Jason Place belted a two run ball over the left field fence to cut the Mets lead to 5-3.The Mets hammered Thunder pitching for five more runs in the remaining innings before a solo blast by Bradley Suttle in the ninth inning provided us with the 10-4 final score. The third straight loss was the first time the Thunder have lost three straight since late April.The Thunder will have to win the remaining two games in Binghamton to avoid losing two straight series since April. The Thunder will have Kei Igawa (2-2, 3.83) on the hill tonight, Igawa fresh off a return from Triple – A Scranton will attempt to stop the current Thunder slide.Thunder ClapsCatch all the action on WTSR-93.1 as the Thunder continues the longest road trip of the year.
