Barnstormers One-Hit Patriots In 5-0 Shutout

710kellyswingingwebBridgewater, NJ – The Lancaster Barnstormers (3-3, 37-38) defeated the Somerset Patriots (5-2, 43-34) 5-0 at TD Bank Ballpark on Sunday evening.

Lancaster starter Terry Doyle (3-4) had a no-hitter into the seventh inning and finished with one hit in eight scoreless innings and seven strikeouts for the win.

“He was locating all his pitches well and got strike one in what seemed like every at bat,” said Somerset Patriots manager Brett Jodie. “He never used the same pitch twice, which made it difficult to plan for. He expanded the zone on both sides and I think he was only behind on one or two hitters all day.”

The Barnstormers started the scoring in the second inning on a two-run home run by Mike McDade (7).

Mike Jacobs hit another homer (2) for Lancaster in the third inning for a 3-0 advantage.

A fourth run scored on a wild pitch that gave the Barnstormers a 4-0 lead in the fourth inning.

Blake Gailen hit a sacrifice fly in the eighth inning to give the Barnstormers the 5-0 final.

Patriots starting pitcher Bryce Morrow (2-1) took the loss, allowing four earned runs on seven hits in four innings pitched.
