Feature Barzal shines in debut at All-Star Game by Chris Passarelli January 29, 2019 It’s not hard for the young star to look good in open ice, so it’s no surprise that Mathew Barzal dominated in the Metro Division’s victory at the 2019 NHL All Star Game. It also didn’t hurt that he was on a line with Sidney Crosby and Kris Letang. Barzal had two goals and three assists in the two wins for the Metro. His passes were crisp, his snapshot was lethal, and if he didn’t already, he cemented himself as one of the best stars in the league with that performance. Barzal ate up All Star Weekend and was a great representative of the Islanders. He came in third in the Fastest Skater competition and used his skating to get the Metro that $1M check. He also has a fan in Sidney Crosby; “Barzal makes it pretty easy. He lugs the puck so well and skates so well,” Crosby said of his fellow Canadian. “Watching him out there against the best and I don’t see anyone that really beats him in that category.” It was a fantastic win for the Metro and an even better weekend for the young star Barzal. Although this was his first All-Star Game, it most certainly won’t be his last.
