Uncategorized Baseball betting by Staff Post July 18, 2016 Baseball betting fans would have to go back to 1992 to see a Yankees losing season, but instead of going backwards in time 24 years they could just wait until the end of this regular season. The Yankees are currently 44-44 but with the type of baseball they’ve been playing lately it doesn’t seem likely that they will finish above the .500 mark. Even narrower are the chances they’ll make the playoffs, at 4th place the AL leading Orioles have a 71/2 game lead over the Yanks. That 71/2 game deficit will be easier for New York to overcome than the plethora of teams beating them out for a wild card spot. With the current state of affairs it’s obvious that a change needs to be made, but lately the Yankees seem more divided than anything. Heading into the trade deadline New York needs to decide whether they’ll be buyers or sellers, but that’s just the start of the problems. New Yorks’ management, led by general manager Brian Cashman, are in favor of the team becoming sellers and performing an overhaul in order to rebuild for the future. The Yankees “business side”, heralded by owner Hal Steinbrenner, believes that the team still has a serious chance of making the playoffs. While the Yankees play has been disappointing, it seems the way they have been conducting themselves in public is even more distasteful. “You (reporters) obviously have nothing more important to write about than to write nonsense about that,” Randy Levine, president of the New York Yankees, snidely responded to a question on whether or not the Yankees would be buyers or sellers. “…if we decide to become buyers, you’ll know about it. I guess the difference is most of you guys have never run anything.” Levine’s remarks speak volumes about the situation in New York. Sportsbook users understand it’s frustrating when your club can’t find success; it’s even more frustrating when you can’t get everyone on the same page. While the owners certainly think that this team has the makings of a playoff team baseball betting enthusiasts, and history, would disagree. The 1992 New York Yankees were the most recent squad to post a losing record, and after performing a complete overhaul the Yankees were able to find success within the coming years. 4 years after the ’92 squad New York was able to win the World Series. 2 years after that the Bronx Bombers would post their famous ‘3-peat’. Clearly a change needed to be made on that 1992 squad and the same can be said about this 2016 team. An overhaul proved to be effective in the past and it would do the Yankees owners well to remember that. “We’re not going to be a seller unless ownership green-lights that.” Cashman said in acceptance of the situation. “I’ll have an honest dialogue with ownership every step of the way as I always do.” By the look of things Cashman will have to do a lot of convincing to sway the pinstripes ownership to sell, but he’ll have to do even more convincing to baseball betting fans for them to pick the Yankees as MLB futures.
