Bellator Heavyweight Grand Prix Semfinal Update: Matt Mitrione v. Ryan Bader set for Oct. 12

The semifinals of the Bellator Heavyweight Grand Prix feature two of the top fighters Bellator has to offer

After surviving the first round of Bellator’s Heaveyweight Grand Prix tournament, Matt Mitrione and Ryan Bader are set to clash in what should be a hard-hitting affair. While we knew they would be facing one another, we didn’t know where and when, until now.

The two will be facing off at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut on October 12. The winner of the bout will face the winner of Chael Sonnen v. Fedor Emelianenko in the finals. The date for that bout has not been announced yet.

Mitrione (13-5) got to the semifinals by beating Roy Nelson via majority decision at Bellator 194 back in January. Before then, he was on a three-fight win streak, his most recent victory coming against Fedor at Bellator NYC/180.

On the other side is Bader (25-5), the current Bellator Light Heavyweight Champion. He easily dispatched of Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal at Bellator 199 in May with a round one TKO in 15 seconds. Before that, he was on a four-fight win streak.

The exclusive online pre-sale for the October 12 bout will be taking place this Thursday.
