Weekly Taste: John Venezia’s best NFL Week 10 bets and tips

Ummm okay. Let’s hit the reset button. The past few weeks we’ve seen an astoundingly bad stretch. As hot and sexy as it was the first five weeks, is how bad it’s been the past three. Let’s dive into some of the best NFL Week 10 bets and tips.

Coming into this particular week, it’s worth noting how bad the slate of games have been over the previous month. Early on there were many games that just jumped off the page, but it’s been the complete opposite as of late. With that being said, there may be a few diamonds in the rough for the Sunday contests.

Check out the full Weekly Taste Sunday Morning on @JohnnyVTV FYI. We have been monitoring the lines and injury reports all week, here are the contests that we should be keeping our eyes on. We’re cleaning the slate heading into Week 10 of the NFL regular season.

Best NFL Week 10 Bets and Tips:

Los Angeles Chargers @ Miami Dolphins (-1.5) | Will the Dolphins stay hot against a talented, but choking Chargers team?

When Miami Dolphins Head Coach Brian Flores announced a couple weeks ago that 1st round pick, Tua Tagovailoa would replace a strong performing Ryan Fitzpatrick, many, including myself, couldn’t help but scratch our heads. While TT certainly had a wonderful second start last week at Arizona, the jury is still out on how he will be as a professional. With that being said, don’t sleep on the boys from South Beach, as they are very quietly building a wild card case for the post season. At 5-3, Miami has looked like a team with spunk the past two games against good NFC West teams (Rams and Cardinals). They have been finding different ways to win games, while their Week 10 opponent has done just the opposite.

Oh, Chargers. If you’re one of the 15 fans of the LA Chargers, you’re definitely loyal, but if you are a casual fan who just loves watching them play, then you know how they roll. NOBODY loses games in the fashion LA does. While the Falcons are a close second, this team takes the cake. In 2020, they have FOUR CONSECUTIVE games where they led their opponent by at least 16 points but allowed a comeback. You can’t help but feel for them. In even better fashion, they lost on the last play to the Raiders because of an overturned TD. Heart-wrenching. You just hate to see it. On the bright side though, rookie QB Justin Herbert has been nothing short of sensational. This kid is the real deal and is so enjoyable to watch.

Expecting this to be a sneaky good game. Fun Fact: Miami is tied for first in the NFL with a 6-2 Against the Spread (ATS) record. People are sleeping on the Dolphins.

PREDICTION: Dolphins eke out a win and cover.

Denver Broncos (+4) @ Las Vegas Raiders | Can the Broncos string together four strong all-around quarters?

The Broncos are a low-key talented team. Despite the fact that they’ve been ravaged by key injuries in 2020, they hang tough and remain scrappy. There were actually solid projections from the Mile-High team heading into the season after their draft and free agency proved promising. All that can definitely still be the case, but at 3-5, there’s still work to be done. The playoffs are most likely out for them, but that doesn’t mean a strong finish is off the table. Aside from a snow game drubbing from the Chiefs a few weeks ago, Denver has actually played surprisingly well at times. If they can string together four good quarter of football at the Raiders, they may actually have a shot.

Las Vegas was the recipient of that last second save against the Chargers last week boosting their record to 5-3, which remains them firmly entrenched in the post season hunt. There quite honestly is a lot to like about this team. In Year 3 of Head Coach Jon Gruden’s system, it looks like the Raiders may have finally found their groove. Unfortunately for this weekend, two key offensive lineman are shelved with injuries; G Gabe Jackson and OT Kolton Miller…. Something that may loom large against Broncos stud edge rusher Bradley Chubb

To be totally honest, this is a gut feeling call. Denver is one of my upsets of the week. Not only do they cover the +4, but they win out right. Savage rookie WR Jerry Jeudy is starting to catch on, which is bad news for a Las Vegas defense allowing over 28 points per game.

PREDICTION: Broncos cover the 4 and win outright on the road.

Week 10 NFL Teaser Play (+6):

The teaser did not hit in Week 9…. UGGGG. Time to get back on track.

Cincinnati Bengals +13.5 (originally +7.5): The Bengals are a scrappy team. They’re not that good, but they hang tough… and can show up at any time. The Steelers should absolutely bounce back after a disappointing effort in Dallas a week ago. 13.5 points can definitely be covered by this team…. One would think.

Miami Dolphins +4.5 (originally -1.5): See analysis.

Denver Broncos +10 (originally +4): See Analysis.

Buffalo Bills + Arizona Cardinals Over 51.5 (originally 56.5): Two teams that can score points… a lot of them. This game currently projects as the highest total of the week. The defenses have been less than good, while the offenses are hitting on all cylinders. I’ll take my chances.
