College Big 2016 Offensive Lineman Commits To Rutgers by Staff Post June 26, 2015 Elite 11 finalist, and 2016 Rutgers quarterback commit Anthony Russo aught to be happy. Rutgers landed another big offensive lineman for their 2016 class in DeMatha Catholic (Hyattsville, Md.) junior Elijah Johnson Thursday. Elijah Johnson(Photo: 247Sports) Johnson announced his college pick at a small ceremony at his school, and cited that head coach Kyle Flood (former offensive line coach) and the fact that Rutgers was his first offer last June played a big role on why he ultimately chose the Scarlet Knights. “I like coach Flood a lot,” Johnson said. “It’s great that I could have a coach who knows the offensive line. He pays a lot of attention to the offensive line so I can develop better in college. That’s a big factor for me too. “They were my first offer, and they’ve been the same after that. They’ve always recruited me hard. I’m going to go there to play hard and win a championship. I’m going to work my hardest and give a great effort overall.” Ranked a three-star recruit by 247Sports, the 6-foot-6, 317-pounder projects to play guard for Rutgers, despite playing some center, guard, as well as offensive tackle in high school. Johnson held a total of 16 offers according to 247Sports.com from the likes of Boston College, Maryland, Pittsburgh, Illinois, Indiana, as well as Rutgers among others. Johnson joins fellow offensive line commits Justin Morgan and Nick Krimin, as well as the honor of being the 14th commit for the class. https://rutgers.247sports.com/Season/2016-Football/Commits Stick with DoubleGSports.com for all your Rutgers football updates.
