Bluefish Hand Patriots 8-4 Loss

71vidalswingingwebBridgewater, NJ – The Bridgeport Bluefish (30-38) defeated the Somerset Patriots (36-32) 8-4 at TD Bank Ballpark on Friday evening.

The Bluefish put up four runs in the top of the eighth inning to take a 5-2 lead. The inning was highlighted by a three-run home run by Jonathan Galvez (6).

The Patriots cut the lead to just one run on a two-run blast by David Vidal (5) in the bottom of the frame.

Bridgeport added three runs to the lead in the top of the ninth. The big hit was a two-run double by Galvez, who finished the game with five RBI.

Somerset took a 1-0 lead in the third inning on an RBI groundout by Bryan Lahair.

The Bluefish tied up the game in the fourth inning on a Jose Cuevas RBI single for a 1-1 score.

Matt Fields gave the Patriots back the lead with a sacrifice fly to left for a 2-1 advantage.

Joseph Kuzia (3-0) picked up the win with a scoreless inning pitched. Jeremy McBryde (4-3) suffered the loss, allowing four runs (three earned) on three hits in an inning pitched.

“I thought the starting pitchers did well. We had the lead and then had the rain delay and had to burn another pitcher,” said Somerset Patriots manager Brett Jodie. “They had that big inning. We fought back and then they had another big rally. That’s how it went tonight.”
