Boxing Boxing’s Best: Katie Taylor and Cindy Serrano have a chance to steal the show in Boston Two women will look to prove why they are the best boxing has to offer by Daniel Yanofsky October 20, 2018 In its never-ending quest to dominate the combat sports scene in the U.S., DAZN and Matchroom Boxing host another event pitting two powerful fighters against one another. Demetrius Andrade will fight Walter Kautondokwa for the vacant WBO Middleweight Title inside the TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts tonight (October 20). It is sure to be a bout full of calculating shots. While that is the premier fight, it is not the only one that could “wow” fans. Two powerful women will get their time to shine as Katie Taylor goes one-on-one with Cindy Serrano. The bout will be for both of Taylor’s IBF & WBA Female Lightweight World Titles. With women’s boxing becoming more relevant each day, these two warriors can help the cause of their female counterparts. Each of these women bring something unique to the ring that can result in a true match of the night candidate. A mainstay of DAZN, Taylor (10-0) has proven her dominance in her short boxing career. At 32, “The Bray Bomber” has five knockout wins. Her last win against Kimberly Connor was via TKO after three rounds. She bested Victoria Bustos inside the Barclays Center back in April for the IBF Title. Taylor’s speed and power combination are both lethal to any opponent who gets in her way. She will look to outdo Top Rank’s Mikaela Mayer, who had a dominant unanimous decision victory of her own last week on ESPN+. Her opponent see’s this as the perfect opportunity, not only for herself but for women in general. Sister of Amanda Serrano, Cindy (27-5-3) had the following to say at the pre-fight press conference about what this bout means: “This is what opportunities are for. We are two great females. Females don’t get a lot of recognition so we said let’s do it. You got the best with the best and let the best woman win. Female fighting is where it’s at. We fight, we fight hard, and a lot of us fight for sills, we’re entertaining, and end of the day, we are beautiful.” Serrano is looking for her sixth-straight win, and a few titles to boot. The Brooklyn native will hope moving up a division will only affect her positively, as her record speaks for itself. Transitioning may be a hard task, but it is never something to hold her back. With a lot more than a title on the line, these two women will go to war for the sake of pride and dominance. You can watch the fight on DAZN. As far as the winner, that will be everyone. The champion will not go down easily, and in an arena with a city filled with a few Irish fans, don’t doubt the power of Katie Taylor. Prediction: Taylor via sixth-round TKO Post Views: 1,116 The following two tabs change content below.BioLatest Posts Daniel Yanofsky Baseball Editor, Misc. Sports Editor.
