Brandon Jacobs Says He Is Healthy; Now We Need Results

No more excuses, it’s time to put up or shut up for Brandon Jacobs. He claims to be healthy, now go out and prove it! Brandon Jacobs, we need you this season.

New York Giants running back Brandon Jacobs claims to be healthy. He missed Saturday’s preseason game against the Pittsburgh Steelers due to a sore neck.

Jacobs injured his neck after lifting weights without stretching before hand. Really dude?? The first thing you learn as a young athlete is make sure you stretch and warm up before going through a full workout.

Is anyone else sick of Brandon Jacobs? The guy has not been the same since becoming a fan favorite. Where has the big bruising runner gone? Where has the no nonsense monster gone?

The 6-4, 264 pound running back in his sixth year has something to prove, or risk losing serious playing time. Last season Jacobs played just seven games while dealing with various injuries. He rushed for 464 yards on 120 carries.

Jacobs has not played more than 15 games since 2006.

With Ahmad Bradshaw nipping at his heels, Jacobs needs to step it up in a big way. The Giants and their fans seem to be falling in love with Bradshaw, and you can’t blame them.

Bradshaw will be a major factor in the Giants offense this season. He brings a combination of speed and power to the running game. He may not be as big as Jacobs, but Bradshaw plays much bigger than his 5-9, 198 pound frame.

Last season, Bradshaw played in just seven games just like Jacobs. The difference? Bradshaw averaged over five yards per carry when he had the ball in his hands. Things seem to happen when Bradshaw has the football.

For someone with the size of Jacobs, he should be a machine when the ball gets near the goal line. It’s been the opposite of late. Jacobs has not been very good in short yardage situations. Part of that could be put on the Giants offensive line, but Jacobs needs to get that punishing running style back.

No more excuses, it’s time to put up or shut up for Brandon Jacobs. He claims to be healthy, now go out and prove it! Brandon Jacobs, we need you this season.
