College Breaking Down The Patriot League’s Toughest Tests Ahead of the 2020 Season Peter Snyder discusses the some key Patriot League football matchups to watch. by Peter Snyder June 10, 2020 You guys seem to be a fan of this series, so I thought I would go above and beyond and enter the magical utopia that is the FCS. Enjoy. Bucknell 2019 Record: 3-8 It's #OneHerdOneDay! For the next 24 hours, you can make a gift to support Bison football. Over the last handful of years, Princeton has established themselves as one of the elite east coast FCS programs. It is also important to mention that the Tigers always schedule a Patriot League opponent as part of their non-conference schedule and more often than not, Princeton comes away with a lopsided victory. Colgate 2019 Record: 4-8 https://twitter.com/HEROSportsFCS/status/1247252169767649283?s=20 Toughest Matchup of 2020? 9/19 @ Syracuse Why is it a hard matchup? For starters, Syracuse has a QB named Tommy Devito who is going to eat a weak Colgate secondary alive. Also, I am a big fan of the offensive system Dino Babers runs and feel as if the Raiders could be in for one hell of an afternoon. Fordham 2019 Record: 4-8 We are excited to announce another talented playmaker joining the #bronXXzoo! Please welcome this stud ball carrier from Texas to the #RAMILY! To ask the rams to fly from the Bronx, all the way to Honolulu, and compete against an FBS team is almost an impossible task. The matter of the fact is this. Fordham is going to be getting paid to fly to Hawaii to play against the rainbow warriors. They are what we like to call “Schedule fillers” or “Cupcakes.” However, a trip to Hawaii where your University gets paid doesn’t seem like too bad of a deal to me. Georgetown 2019 Record: 5-6 Toughest Matchup of 2020? 10/17 vs Holy Cross The 2020 schedule is finally here!! Check out the #Hoyas 11 games this fall, with 5 being played at Cooper Field! #HoyaSaxa #DefendtheDistricthttps://t.co/REJdwcgh6t pic.twitter.com/8UOKpjcJeL — Georgetown Football (@HoyasFB) April 6, 2020 Why is it a hard matchup? Holy Cross is the defending champs of the Patriot Leauge. To get a win on your home turf against the champs would do wonders for the overall confidence and moral for the Hoyas program. Holy Cross 2019 Record: 7-6 Happy #TouchdownTuesday! After @spencer_Gilliam blocked a punt, @CrisArgys took this one to the house at Boston College!#GoCrossGo | #CROS21SBACK pic.twitter.com/UBIROy19bD — Holy Cross Football (@HCrossFB) June 9, 2020 Toughest Matchup of 2020? 9/19 vs Yale Why is it a hard matchup? A. It is Homecoming week B. An Ivy-league School is coming into your house C. You are the defending champs….EVERYTHING is riding on this one. Lafayette 2019 Record: 4-8 https://twitter.com/LafColFootball/status/1262851456828350464?s=20 Toughest Matchup of 2020? 11/21 vs Lehigh Why is it a hard matchup? This will be the 156th meeting between the Lafayette Leopards and the Lehigh Mountain Hawks. It is one of the richest, yet underappreciated rivalries in the history of college football. Lehigh 2019 Record: 4-7 Toughest Matchup of 2020? 11/12 @Lafayette A win over Lafayette AND a Patriot League Championship. What a day it was. Be sure to relieve @LehighFootball’s 2017 win over Lafayette today at 12 p.m. on the @PatriotLeagueTV YouTube page. #BeatLafayette https://t.co/5eHuHwPtN2 pic.twitter.com/0F7msjw24D — Lehigh Sports (@LehighSports) May 2, 2020 Why is it a hard matchup?
