Feature Bridgewater's Sam Giordano Named DoubleGSports.com 2014 High School Female Athlete of the Year After scoring 33 goals along with 17 assists to lead the Bridgewater-Raritan Panthers to a 23-3 record, Samantha Giordano has been voted the DoubleGSports.com 2014 High School Female Athlete of the Year. by Staff Post January 30, 2015 (Photo via Courier News) After scoring 33 goals along with 17 assists to lead the Bridgewater-Raritan Panthers to a 23-3 record, Samantha Giordano has been voted the DoubleGSports.com 2014 High School Female Athlete of the Year. The senior was also named the Courier News Field Hockey Player of the Year after the season. The Panthers finished the season 23-3, won its seventh consecutive Somerset County Tournament title, and secured a spot in the Group IV final against powerhouse Eastern. The finals appearance was the fourth straight for Giordano and her senior classmates. The Panthers fell to Eastern in the finals for the tenth consecutive year. The Panthers entered the season with a new head coach, Alyssa Dragon. Despite the unknown of a new head coaches, the Panthers solid senior leadership, led by Giordano, made the transition as easy as possible. Giordano will take her talents to Fairfield University next year.
