The past week or so was extremely intense for the NY Rangers, as they won five games in a row and in doing so, only gave up three goals. Cam Talbot shutout the Blackhawks 1-0 and Mac Skap blanked the Sabres 2-0.

The work of Talbot earned him the Second Star of the Week in the NHL. Last week he was named third star, this week he moved up a notch.

Cam started the week with a 2-1 victory over the NY Islanders, where he made 29 saves. He then stopped 28 shots in a 3-1 victory over the Caps. He then saved his best performance for last, when he made an incredible 38 saves in a thrilling 2-1 victory over Florida.

Cam’s stats for the week was a 3-0-0 record, with a 1.00 goals against average and a .969 save percentage.

Overall, Talbot has been in 29 games this season and has a record of 17-6-4 with a 2.19 GAA, a Save % of .926 with five shutouts.

MSL Injured

Marty St. Louis was checked awkwardly into the boards in the game on Sunday vs the Panthers. He was able to skate to the bench, but he then skated very gingerly to the end boards, where he was taken back to the locker room to be looked at by the training staff. Things did not look good at all. But, today the results were not as bad as they could have been. MSL will be sidelined for a while, but not for as long as feared.

The Rangers announced on Monday that Marty will be on the shelf for the next 10 – 14 days with a lower body injury.

So far this season, MSL has 20 goals and 27 assists for 47 points and a plus 8 rating in 68 games. He is second on the team in goals scored and third in points.

Knowing just how tough St. Louis is, I believe that he will be definitely be back before the 14 days and may even be back right at that 10 day mark.
