Boxing Brooklyn native Richardson Hitchins makes Mayweather Promotions debut on March 4th undercard by Kristine Haugsjaa January 30, 2017 (JAMES KEIVOM/NEW YORK DAILY NEWS) ‘The Money Team’ adds another top talent from the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janerio to its roster. 19-year-old Brooklyn native Richardson Hitchins is the latest to sign to Mayweather Promotions. The promotion made the official announcement Monday. Hitchins, who represented his parents home country of Haiti after not qualifying to make the US boxing team, lost his opening round via unanimous decision against Gary Antuanne Russell of the American team. Floyd Mayweather went to the 2016 Olympics in search of the newest talent to sign to his promotion company. Mayweather also signed New Jersey native Shakur Stevenson after his performance at the Olympics this past summer. “I am a product of my environment, it’s built me to where I am today and it’s no mistake I’m this good,” said Hitchins in a press release. “I’m just happy to work with a team who is in a place to help me achieve my goals as a fighter.” Hitchins has been fortunate to train with some of the best in the sport during his amateur days, including WBO/WBC champion Terrance Crawford, former Olympian Sadam Ali and former WBA champion Luis Collazo. Hitchins is scheduled to make his professional debut on the undercard for Showtime Boxing’s Keith Thurman vs. Danny Garcia fight card on March 4th at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. His opponent as yet to be determined. Tickets to the fight begin at $55 with Barclays Center parking starting at $15.
