After many weeks of anticipation, the NBA officially released the full schedule for the upcoming 2017-18 season on Monday evening. After a busy offseason, the Brooklyn Nets finally found out their entire schedule aside from their previously-announced trip to Mexico City for two regular-season games in December.

The entire schedule can be found on the team’s official website.

The Nets open up their regular-season on Wednesday, October 18 against the Indiana Pacers on the road.  Opening night at Barclays Center is Friday, October 20 against the Orlando Magic.

With the preseason basically being cut in half, the NBA decided to start the regular-season slate two weeks earlier than normal.  Opening night usually does not take place until around Halloween, but the earlier start date allows teams to play fewer back-to-backs and have more practice time in-between games.

Some other highlights in the schedule include:

  • Four games against the New York Knicks.  The teams meet at Barclays Center on December 14 and January 15, and at Madison Square Garden on October 27 and January 30.
  • Brook Lopez makes his return to Brooklyn with the Los Angeles Lakers on February 2.
  • D’Angelo Russell returns to LA to face the Lakers on November 3.
  • New Nets DeMarre Carroll and Allen Crabbe make their returns to Toronto and Portland on December 15 and November 10, respectively.
  • The Nets travel to Mexico City to take on the Oklahoma City Thunder on December 7 and the Miami Heat on December 9. They will be the home team in both contests, so that means they will only play 39 regular-season games in Brooklyn.
  • Brooklyn’s longest road trip this season is only five games.  They also only have 15 sets of back-to-backs.
  • No National Television love for the Nets.  They have a league-low two games, both on NBA TV.
  • The Nets will host the defending NBA champion Golden State Warriors on November 19.

Roster Update:  The Nets signed forward Jacob Wiley to a two-way contract on Monday, bringing their current roster total to 18 players.  NBA teams are allowed to carry up to 20 players into training camp.

Of the 18 players on the Nets roster, 13 have guaranteed deals while the other five have partial guarantees. Both Wiley and Yakuba “Billy” Ouattara are on two-way deals, a new feature of the NBA collective bargaining agreement. Both will play primarily for the Long Island Nets, Brooklyn’s G-League affiliate, but can spend up to 45 days with the Nets this season.

Spencer Dinwiddie, Milton Doyle and Jeremy Senglin are the other three players on the roster without fully-guaranteed contracts.  For Dinwiddie, it is almost a certainty that his deal will become guaranteed.  He is expected to be a part of the rotation this season.  If none of the other players stand out in camp, the Nets would still have one open roster spot to bring in a free-agent.
