BoxingBrooklyn’s Daniel Jacobs set to face Sergiy Derevyanchenko for the vacant IBF Middleweight Title by Daniel Yanofsky July 11, 2018 The Daniel Jacobs Redemption Tour is something to behold. Born in Brooklyn, the 31-year old will have a chance to climb the top of the mountain once more when he challenges Sergiy Derevyanchenko for the vacant IBF Middleweight Title.Matchroom Boxing’s Eddie Hearn made the announcement, teaming with promotor Lou DiBella on this venture. The match is scheduled to take place sometime in October on HBO.After weeks of negotiating with my dear friend @loudibella – delighted to agree terms for @DanielJacobsTKO v Derevenchenko for the IBF World title on @HBOboxing – Date coming soon for NY pic.twitter.com/Agp1C6SsVg— Eddie Hearn (@EddieHearn) July 10, 2018After losing to Gennady Golovkin in March 2017, Jacobs (34-2) has won two fights in a row. In his return fight, Jacobs dominated Luis Arias at the Nassau Coliseum before getting another unanimous decision victory over Maciej Sulęcki back in April. He is looking to return to the Promised Land, and you can bet he will try via knockout. The last TKO win by Jacobs was back in 2016 against Sergio Mora. Overall, he has 29 wins via KO.Jacobs faces a tough task in Sergiy. A former bronze medalist in the World Amateur Championships, “The Technician” (12-0) last fought at the Barclays Center this past March, defeating Dashon Johnson via RTD. This could be the first true test for the 32-year old, who has ten wins via knockout. The title is currently vacated after GGG was stripped of it in June after failing to defend it. Neither fighter has held the belt, making the prize that much richer. Until the two get the winner of the GGG v. Canelo Alvarez rematch in September, they will have to settle on one another. The results by both bouts could lead us to another boxing superfight. Post Views: 951The following two tabs change content below.BioLatest PostsDaniel YanofskyBaseball Editor, Misc. Sports Editor.
