When Alex Rodriguez was sidelined with a strained right hamstring, the New York Yankees needed someone to step up offensively.

Enter Carlos Beltran.

Beltran, normally the Yankees right-fielder slipped into the designated hitter role as A-Rod, the normal DH has been recovering. Beltran has gone on a tear in his last 15 games hitting .283 with five home runs, including his 400 career homer and driving in 16 runs.

Beltran also has 11 extra-base hits since May 9, including three in Oakland on Friday night, which leads the majors.

Beltran has really turned it on for the Yankees as of late, and the team has won four straight, and 11 of their last 16 games.

Rodriguez is due to come of the DL on Tuesday when the Yankees host the Toronto Blue Jays at Yankee Stadium. Beltran will most likely be moved back to right field and will look to continue his hot hitting.

The Yankees will turn to Michael Pineda as they finish off a four-game series with the Oakland A’s on Sunday afternoon in Oakland.
