College Christian Jones Leaving St. John’s Basketball Program, Will Pursue Pro Careeer by Kayla Machlica April 6, 2016 Christian Jones, No. 2 (Photo by Wendell Cruz – Double G Media) Announced Tuesday afternoon, Red Storm red-shirt junior Christian Jones says he will not return to St. John’s for the 2016-17 season. He will pursue a career in professional basketball. Jones is on track to earning a bachelor’s degree this May, being a four-year member of the Red Storm men’s basketball program. He has one year of eligibility remaining if he decides to return to college as a graduate student. Jones played in all 32 games on the 2015-16 season and made 19 starts for the Red Storm. He averaged 8.4 points on 47.8 percent shooting from the field, recorded 5.2 rebounds per game and had 17 blocks. Jones also had three double-doubles and scored double-figures 13 times, including a career-high 29 points against Marquette in the BIG EAST Tournament.
