CM Punk to make his MMA debut at UFC 203

Ever since CM Punk left WWE and pursued a career in MMA, fans have been playing the waiting game. It has become a running joke whenever Punk has delayed his debut because of a setback/other issues. After months of doubts, our patience might have just paid off. MMA Fighting’s Ariel Helwani sent a tweet out a few days ago discussing Punk’s possible debut at UFC 203 against Mickey Gall.

The news was later confirmed by Punk himself on the UFC Unfiltered Podcast. The young Mickey Gall beat Mike Jackson at UFC Fight Night 81, earning a shot to face CM Punk. He now has a set time and place for the fight. UFC 203 will take place on September 10th at the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, Ohio. The card will include top fights like Ben Rothwell vs. Fabricio Werdum and UFC Heavyweight Champion Stipe Miocic vs. Alistair Overeem.

Tickets are not available yet, though hotels are available near Quicken Loans Arena for as low as $79 currently.  Flights to Cleveland are available at Hipmunk, as well, for those planning ahead, though this announcment should not have a major impact on rates for hotels nor flights.

At 24-years old, Mickey Gall will look to prove he is not someone to take lightly. He will try and improve to 3-0 in his young career in a fight that will gain a lot of media attention. Now that is seems official, both fighters are hoping to make the most out of their opportunity. Gall will look to be a major player in the UFC, while CM Punk will prove that this wasn’t some publicity stunt after leaving WWE.

Grab your drinks, get some popcorn and call your friends: UFC 203 should be one heck of a show. Cleveland is already buzzing after the Cavaliers won the NBA Title. The Q will have one more reason to have an electric crowd inside the building. It should be an interesting but exciting time for the UFC.
