College Coach Chris Mullin invites Warriors to St. John’s Queens campus by Kayla Machlica February 2, 2016 Earlier today, the St. John’s University Queens Campus had a surprise, “secret” visit from no other than the best team in the NBA right now, the Golden State Warriors! Makes sense since this is the team where St. John’s first year basketball coach had his very own “golden” years. Reportedly arriving around 10 am this morning, the Warriors got to work out and have a private practice at Taffner Field House, attached to Carnesecca Arena. As the news got out around campus, students fled to the outside and back of Taffner to wait by the team’s bus just to capture a glimpse of the hottest team and players at the moment. Both the men’s and women’s St. John’s basketball teams got a chance to meet the team, too! Although it was a secret until the word quickly got out and spread around campus, the Warriors still treated the rest of the school too by exiting publicly outside the field house to their bus, saying hi and waving to the students gathered outside around 3:20pm. The team is now on their way to Washington D.C. for their game against the Wizards tomorrow night. What a great way for the team to have their “before game day” practice!
