Columbia Fireflies Sweep Rome Braves

Rome, GA — The Met’s Class-A Affiliate swept the Rome Braves for the second time this season, coming back from a deficit for the third straight game. Kevin Kaczmarski led the way for the Fireflies hitting 2-4 with 4 RBI’s and a triple. With their win today, the Fireflies move to 28-25 on the season.

The Fireflies took an early lead scoring one in the first and one in the fourth, but Rome would come back and score two in the bottom of the sixth on a two-run homer from Carlos Castro.  Kaczmarski would tie up the game in the seventh on an RBI that brought in Jeff Diehl.

Then in the eighth Kaczmarski hit a triple that brought in three additional runs. A single RBI by Milton Ramos in the ninth would extend the Fireflies lead to six, and Taylor Bashlor shut the door on the Braves giving the Fireflies their sixth straight win at State Mutual Stadium. Bashlor has been impressive as of late, allowing just one run in 15.2 innings of work.

Tyler Badamo picked up the win for the Columbia Fireflies moving to 3-3 0n the season as well as a 3.52 ERA. Badamo was impressive through the first five innings, as he shut out the Braves and struck out three. In all the right-hander struck out four, and didn’t walk a single batter.

The Fireflies start a three-game homestead tomorrow against the Hagerstown Suns as the righty Joe Shaw (3-2, 3.21 ERA) takes the mound, with first pitching set to go off at 7:05 PM at Spirit Communications Park. Shaw faces righty Andrew Lee (2-2, 3.66 ERA).
