Baseball Conlon Among Fireflies Named To All-Star Team by Staff Post June 7, 2016 Columbia, SC – Arguably the best pitcher in the South Atlantic League this season, P.J. Conlon was one of three Fireflies named to represent Columbia in the SAL Southern Division All-Star Game. Joining Conlon will be the second baseman Vinny Siena as well as third baseman David Thompson. Conlon currently leads the SAL in wins (7), has the lowest ERA (1.21), the second-lowest WHIP (0.94), and has put in the third most innings of work (67.0). Siena and Thompson meanwhile, have been among the best hitters in the South Atlantic League this season. Siena has the second-best on-base percentage (at .430) as well as the second most walks drawn (40) and leads the South Atlantic in runs scored (43). Thompson has been equally impressive on the offensive side, as he leads the league in RBIs (42), is fourth in extra-base hits (23) and is fourth in doubles (17). Siena has also been impressive on the defensive siding boasting the third -highest fielding percentage among second baseman (.977). On the players being named to the All-Star Roster Skipper Jose Leger had this to say “I am very happy for all of them. All three have been really consistent. Conlon has been impressive every outing and he’s totally dominating the league. Siena has showed his discipline at the top of the lineup for us and I’m happy for Thompson, too. He missed more than a week with an injury that slowed him down and he’s still leading the league in RBIs. I’m proud of all the guys” After being rained out last night the Fireflies start a doubleheader at 5:05 tonight against Augusta. You can watch all the action on MiLB.TV. All games are broadcast on WGCV 620 AM, 96.3 and 105.1 FM (all out of Columbia, SC), ColumbiaFireflies.com, and the TuneIn Radio app. Post Views: 1,385 The following two tabs change content below.BioLatest Posts Staff Post Latest posts by Staff Post (see all) In The Zone Announces Initial Podcast Lineup - November 13, 2020 The Essential Resources You Need to Start Your Own Gym in 2020 - February 6, 2020 Wilder vs Fury II – How the second fight will be different to the first? - February 5, 2020 Early turnovers, defensive struggles plague the Scarlet Knights - January 26, 2020 Related Topics Click to comment You must be logged in to post a comment Login Leave a Reply Cancel replyYou must be logged in to post a comment.
