Connecticut Whale to Play South Korean National Team at Yale University

The National Women’s Hockey League announced on Monday that the Connecticut Whale will be taking on the South Korean Women’s National Team on December 30 at Yale University’s Ingalls Rink.

As a show of gratitude for the support the fans have shown the league of the past two years, the NWHL will be offering complimentary admission to the international matchup. This holiday gift for the fans of women’s hockey will be one of three Olympic tune-ups that the squads preparing for their quests for an Olympic gold medal.

The Whale and South Korea will face off at the legendary Ingalls Rink at 2:00 pm on Saturday, December 30. This past week, the league also announced that select stars from the NWHL will battle the United States Women’s National Team in a pair of games in Wesley Chapel, Florida on January 13 and 15. Those matchups will take place at the U.S. training complex in the Tampa suburb.

NWHL Deputy Commissioner, Hayley Moore said, “The NWHL is thrilled to host the South Korean National Team in a matchup against the Whale as part of their Olympic preparations. The NWHL always strives to widen our reach and present new hockey opportunities to our players and experiences for our fans. This international exhibition will be a great experience for everyone.”

Sarah Murray, Head Coach for South Korea added, “The game against the Connecticut Whale will be a great challenge and preparation for the Olympics our team. We are excited to have the opportunity to see how our team matches up against one of the high-level teams of the NWHL.”

Free Admission to the Holiday Matchup

Fans can catch the all the action, taking place during the NWHL’s holiday break, between the Whale and South Korea at Ingalls Rink, on the campus of Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut free of charge on Saturday, December 30 at 2:00 PM. Ticket information for the two games against Team USA will be announced shortly.
