Connecticut Whale Relocating from Chelsea Piers to Northfield Ice Pavilion

The National Women’s Hockey League and the Connecticut Whale Announced on Thursday that they will be moving their home arena from Chelsea Piers in Stamford, to the Northford Ice Pavillion in Northford.

The Northfield Ice Pavilion is an ice skating complex with several National Hockey League sized rinks. One of which includes the 1,200 seat Red Rink, the former home of the Quinnipiac Bobcats. Northfield Ice Pavilion general manager, Bill Maniscalco said, “We are extremely excited that our facility will be home to our first professional hockey team.”

He added, “What makes it even more special is that it is a women’s professional team. I feel this will help grow the girl’s hockey game in this area, both at the younger and older level.”

Whale general manager, Lisa Giovanelli said, “The Whale is extremely excited to call the Northfield Ice Pavilion our new home. The owners and staff are great women’s hockey supporters and we are fortunate to build a relationship with them for our second season in the NWHL.”

Giovanelli and the Whale also thanked the owners and staff of Chelsea Piers for the wonderful hospitality they received from them in their inaugural season.
