The Connecticut Whale signed Minnesota high school hockey all-star and Norwich University forward, Kaycie Anderson on Wednesday to a contract for the 2017-2018 National Women’s Hockey League season.

In her four seasons at the Northfield,Vermont college, the five-foot-seven forward from Maple Plain, Minnesota put up 48 goals and 70 assists in 118 games. In her freshman season, she broke every rookie scoring record as she scored 23 goals and 27 assists in 31 games.

Anderson said, “I am thrilled and honored to be joining the Whale and grateful for the opportunity to play the game that I lover in the highly competitive NWHL. I look forward to meeting my new teammates and getting to work in the quest for the Isobel Cup.”

Anderson played five seasons of varsity hockey at Orono High School in Long Lake, Minnesota where she was named a most valuable player in three of those seasons. Her 71 points during her senior season, ranked her amongst fourth best in the state.

She was a member of the Two Nations Female Hockey League Championship with the Minnesota Extreme Team in 2006 and Orange Crush in 2010. Anderson also played for the Minnesota Crunch under-19 team during her early career.

The Psychology major, who had a concentration in Criminal Justice, plans to pursue new career opportunities once she gets to the Stamford area. She plans to take classes in Cyber Security while helping the Whale in their Quest for Isobel.

Anderson added, “I am very excited to play a part in growing the game of women’s hockey and women’s professional sports, and I am particularly thankful for the unwavering support of my family, friends and former coaches.”

The third season for the Whale begins on Saturday October 28 at 2:30 PM when the defending Isobel Cup Champions, Buffalo Beauts visit Terry Conners Ice Rink.
