Hockey Connecticut Whale Sign Meagan Mangene by Chip Gianni July 28, 2016 The Connecticut Whale announced on Thursday that they signed Meagan Mangene to a one year, 12,000-dollar contract for the 2016-2017 National Women’s Hockey League season. This past season, Mangene played in seven games for the Boston Pride as a member of the practice squad. She added an assist during the inaugural season. The former Boston College co-captain, is the second member of the practice team, to transition into a rostered player. Mangene said, “Last season was an amazing experience, and I am thankful to have been a part of the Boston Pride. I am excited to transition into a bigger role with the Whale and I am looking forward to the second season of the NWHL.” Heather Linstad, coach of the Whale said, “The coaching staff is excited to add Meagan Mangene to our lineup. She is a versatile player who can play defense or forward. She sees the ice very well and makes smart decisions with the puck.” Mangene will join fellow Boston College alumna, Kaliya Johnson on the Whale roster for the 2016-2017 NWHL season as they compete to raise the Isobel Cup. The new season for the NWHL will begin on October 7, 2016.
