Connecticut Whale Sign Three Players for 2016-17 Season

The Connecticut Whale announced on Tuesday three player signings for the 2016-2017 National Women’s Hockey League season.

Team general manager, Lisa Giovanelli made the announcement that the Whale reached agreements on one-year deals with Cydney Roesler, Nicole Connery and Nicole Kosta. All three players played their National Collegiate Athletic Association careers with Quinnipiac University.

Roesler, a defenseman with the Bobcats signed a deal worth 15,500 for the season. She scored 52 points with Quinnipiac in 141 games. Last season she served as the captain for the Bobcats.

Kosta and Connery each signed their contracts for 15,000 for the upcoming season.

Connery, from Newmarket, Ontario, lit the lamp 42 times while adding 60 assists in 145 games with Quinnipiac throughout her collegiate career. While Kostas, from Mississauga, Ontario put up 123 points through 137 NCAA games.

All three players have spent some time with Hockey Canada at the International Ice Hockey Federation Under-18 World Championships.

Roesler said, “You have got some of the best players in the world playing in this league and I think it will be really fun. I am excited, but I know I know it is going to be a challenge and this is going to push me to work harder, so I am looking forward to it.”

Kosta added, “Two years ago this was not even an option or though in my mind, to be able to play professional hockey is a great achievement and I am really humbled to have signed a contract.”
