MMA Contendership on the line? Benson Henderson to face Saad Awad at Bellator 208 on Long Island by Daniel Yanofsky August 16, 2018 Bellator’s invasion of the Nassau Coliseum will feature two of the most feared elder statesmen in the world. It is the perfect place for several top MMA performers to showcase their skills as well. According to MMA Junkie, Benson Henderson will look for his second win in a row against against Saad Awad at Bellator 208. Since moving to Bellator, Henderson (25-8) has gone 2-3, his last fight a submission victory over Roger Huerta at Bellator 196. The lightweight is looking to regain momentum in order to get back into title contention. He lost to Michael Chandler for the Bellator Lightweight Championship at Bellator 165. With Brent Primus as the champion, a man who has yet to defend his title, a win on Long Island could entice Bellator officials to make Henderson a contender. Henderson’s championship dreams could come crashing down, thanks in part to a surging Awad (23-9). The 35 year old has won four in a row, beating a who’s who of fighters. From Ryan Quinn all the way to his most recent victory against Ryan Couture at Bellator 201, Awad has made a major statement in Bellator. One thing is for sure from this fight: it will be one that could change the landscape of Bellator and the MMA world. When you think about it, these are two of the most exciting athletes in the world. With a lot on the line, who would you want to see come out on top? Bellator 208 takes place at the Nassau Coliseum on Long Island, NY on October 13. The main event will feature Chael Sonnen v. Fedor Emelianenko in the semifinals of the Bellator Heavyweight Grand Prix Tournament. Tickets can be purchased at Ticketmaster.com or the Nassau Coliseum box office.
