Football Cruz, Beason Out as Giants Limp Into Week 2 by Guest September 18, 2015 The Giants have released their injury report ahead of Week 2’s home opener against the Atlanta Falcons, and it seems New York will be without a few big names. Not surprisingly, wide receiver Victor Cruz (calf) remains out. The Giants will once again feature two LSU starting receivers, as Rueben Randle will get the nod opposite Odell Beckham. (Photo: Getty Images) The unofficial depth chart lists Preston Parker as next in line for snaps, but after he committed three key drops in last week’s loss to the Cowboys, return man Dwayne Harris could see more offensive action. Middle linebacker Jon Beason (knee) is listed as doubtful after getting in some limited practice this week. The defensive captain has not played since Week 2 of the preseason. Beason’s likely absence means rookie Uani’ Unga is expected to start in his place once again. Unga impressed in his debut last week, racking up a team-high 12 tackles while also recording an interception. The defense takes yet another hit as starting defensive tackle Markus Kuhn (knee) is also out. Kuhn’s injury leaves the Giants dangerously thin at defensive tackle. Second-year player Jay Bromley will likely start alongside Johnathan Hankins, leaving just Louis Nix behind them. Nix was inactive last week. Tight end Daniel Fells (foot) is also listed as out. Fells is the Giants’ top blocking tight end. His absence makes it likely Jerome Cunningham will be active to back up starter Larry Donnell. Donnell is not a great blocker, though, so the Giants may rely on fullback Nikita Whitlock to block a little more. Rookie defensive end Owamagbe Odighizuwa (foot) will also miss Sunday’s game. After blowing last week’s game against Dallas in epic fashion, the injury-riddled Giants (0-1) will hope for better results when they face Matt Ryan, Julio Jones and the Atlanta Falcons (1-0) on Sunday at MetLife Stadium.
