Dare, Blunt, Folkerts Among 2015 Rutgers Football Recruiting Class

The era of QB Gary Nova is over at Rutgers University, but that leaves a space open for the next in line. That has not yet been decided, but there were a few quarterbacks who committed to become a Scarlet Knight in today’s National Signing Day.

The first quarterback was QB Michael Dare of Elmwood Park, New Jersey.  During his senior year at Elmwood Park High School, Dare threw for 2,160 yards and 26 touchdowns. Those kind of stats are not even found in some NFL quarterbacks. Dare is looking to compete and become the starter immediately.

From quarterback to wide receiver, WR Rashad Blunt of Creekside High School in St. John’s, Florida has also committed to Rutgers University. In his senior year, Blunt caught 25 passes for 457 yards and 10 TDs- again, NFL type numbers. But he was also pretty good on defense, as well. As a free safety, Blunt forced eight fumbles along with 32 solo tackles.

Anthony Folkerts of Ray City, Georgia is also a versatile player on both sides of the ball. As a tight end, he caught 22 balls thrown his way for 211 yards and four touchdowns his senior year. As defensive end, however, recorded 25.5 tackles and a forced fumble. Opposing offenses should watch out for this Ray Lewis-type tackler, because if they are not prepared, he will dominate.
