FeatureDarnold possibly out for multiple weeks with mono by Chris Passarelli September 13, 2019 In a shocking turn of events, Adam Gase revealed on Thursday that Sam Darnold will miss Monday night’s game against the Browns due to a case of mono. For those not familiar, mono is short for mononucleosis, or as many call it “Kissing Disease”.#Jets coach Adam Gase tells reporters that QB Sam Darnold will miss Monday’s game with mono. That is unexpected.— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) September 12, 2019 Regardless of who Darnold was smooching last week, this setback is exactly the kind of weird, wacky thing that has haunted the Jets for years. Most fans are probably saying right now “SAME OLD JETS” and they aren’t wrong. Who gets mono past the age of 14?In all seriousness, it’s legitimately concerning because mono can linger on for weeks at a time. Even with the very best medical care, Darnold may be out for 3-4 weeks if it’s a serious case of mono.Losing your future franchise quarterback for four weeks in a season that was supposed to be your redemption song isn’t a good sign of things to come. In more positive news, Le’Veon Bell quelled the fears of the Jets faithful after it was revealed that he was dealing with a bum shoulder;I got great news, my shoulder is fine so no worries…just had to make sure everything was ready to go for Monday night 🖤🙌🏾 lets get it— Le'Veon Bell (@LeVeonBell) September 12, 2019 Regardless of the good news, it’s a wait and see game with Darnold from week to week. If the Jets can get a win against the Browns on Monday night then all is well. If the Jets’ season starts to come apart at the seams, then it may be a long season. Trevor Siemian isn’t exactly Tom Brady waiting in the wings.
