With a 3-game win streak and a record of 5-2-2 thus far in January, it looks like New Jersey Devils fans may have gotten their New Year’s wish.  Hope really started to set in after the Devils 4-3 win on Monday over the red-hot Minnesota Wild.  But after a dismal start to the season, can the faithful jump behind them and keep spirits up?  In my humble opinion, yes.

There are so many reasons for fans to not lose hope, for starters Taylor Hall.  He has rejuvenated the offense and been a key playmaker.  Hall, in addition to Parenteau, Palmieri, and Wood bring a lot of promise to the lineup.  With Patrik Elias still in limbo, having these guys provide energy and leadership is key to keep the positive momentum going.

With coaching changes happening around the league, with the most recent being metro area rival Islanders coach Jack Capuano, it is good to know the Devils believe in Hynes.  Last month Ray Shero professed that the brass is behind Coach Hynes and are giving him the chance to work with the team and build a contender.

Faithful however need to remember this is the first year that Hynes has a team that was not entirely inherited.  We have great pieces, they just need to put them together right.  The Devils will take on the Canadians Friday night and will be an honest test to see if the New Jersey win streak is a fluke or if the team is starting to gel.
