(Photo by Bruce Bennett/Getty Images) The New Jersey Devils made five selections in the 2015 NHL draft and the majority of them were spent trying to improve the offense. The picks in the first, third, and sixth round were dedicated to offense — picking Pavel Zacha, a center, with the sixth overall pick; Blake Speers, a center, with the 67th overall pick; and at pick number 157, the Devils took Brett Seney, a left winger. The other two picks (numbers 42 and 97) were spent on more defensive additions, with goalie McKenzie Blackwood and defensemen Colton White. Out of the five picks, four were Canadians. The Devils’ first pick, Pavel Zacha, is from the Czech Republic. Of course it’s way too soon to know who will succeed and who won’t, but in Ray Shero’s first draft as GM of the Devils he certainly did a good job trying to fill in the holes the Devils currently have.
