Hockey Devils Suffer Mile High Setback Devils lost for the second consecutive game Thursday. by Staff Post March 13, 2015 AP Photo The Devils lost for the second consecutive game Thursday when they fell to the Colorado Avalanche 2-1 in a shootout. Despite collecting one point in the loss, the Devils are falling closer and closer to being mathematically eliminated from the playoffs. It was another strong game for Devils goalie Cory Schneider who once again faced more shots than his team produced. Schneider turned aside 28 of 29 Avalanche shots in 65 minutes during regulation and overtime. Jarome Iginla’s goal early in the second was the only blemish on the night until the shootout when both Iginla and Ryan O’Reilly beat Schneider to win the game. The Devils lone tally in regulation came off the stick of Andy Greene late in the second period. Jacob Josefson managed to roof a goal in the shootout for the Devils but that would be all they would get as both Patrik Elias and Scott Gomez were stopped by Avalanche goalie Semyon Varlamov The Devils now trail the Boston Bruins for the final playoff spot by 13 points and have played one more game than the Bruins. The Devils next play Saturday night on MSG+2 at 9:00 pm against the Arizona Coyotes.
