Hockey Devon Toews recalled from Bridgeport, to debut with Islanders by Chris Passarelli December 19, 2018 Devon Toews has been recalled from the Bridgeport Sound Tigers for the first time in his career. This promotion came at the loss of Thomas Hickey, who was put on IR with an upper body injury. He fell awkwardly on Tuesday night against Colorado and did not return to the game after being helped off the ice. Toews is an AHL All-Star and although he missed all of last season due to injury, he’s ready to prove himself with the big squad. Toews is one of a few highly touted prospects that have gotten their first cracks this season with the Islanders. Michael Dal Colle had a cup of coffee with the Isles earlier this year. Josh Ho-Sang had his first goal of the season on Wednesday night. Toews is a welcome addition and brings a lot of skill to the back end.
