Dick Allen, Jorge Posada, and Pete Rose have been named the three 2016 inductees into the New York-Penn League Hall of Fame.

Jorge Posada was drafted by the Yankees in the 24th round of the 1990 Major League Baseball Amateur Draft. The following year, he appeared in 71 games for the Oneonta Yankees. Beginning his career as a second baseman, Posada began his move to catcher during his time in Oneonta. He quickly moved through the Yankees minor league system and made his MLB debut with the organization in 1995. That was the start of a 17 year career in New York.

Posada hit .273 through his career, with 275 home runs and 1,065 RBI. He also added 103 hits, 11 home runs, and 42 RBI in 125 postseason games. Posada is a five-time all-star and five-time World Series champion.

The Yankees retired his number 20 in 2015.

Dick Allen may very well be the best player not inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame, but he is now a member of the New York-Penn League Hall of Fame. Allen began his professional career with the Elmira Pioneers in 1906 where he hit .281 with eight home runs and 42 RBI. In 1964, he was named the NL Rookie of the Year as a member of the Philadelphia Phillies. He would play 15 years in MLB and hit .292 with 351 home runs and 1,119 RBI.

Earlier this year, Pete Rose was inducted into the Cincinnati Red Hall of Fame. Major League Baseball’s all-time hits leader can now add the New York-Penn League Hall of Fame to his accomplishments. Rose began his professional career in 1960 with the Geneva Redlegs. He hit .277 that season.

In 24 MLB seasons, Rose hit .303 with 160 home runs and 1,314 RBI. He holds the MLB career record for hits, games, at-bats, and singles. He is a three-time National League batting champion, 17-time all-star, and three-time World Series champion.
