College Drexel MBB Drops Third Straight Game by Renee Washington November 23, 2015 (Via Drexel Athletics) The Drexel Dragons (0-3) first half efforts were not enough as they dropped their third straight game this season, this time to Monmouth (2-1) 82-74, on Saturday at the Daskalakis Athletic Center. Drexel led 37-31 at the half. They outrebounded the Hawks 17-12 in the first half behind the work of Kazembe Abif who finished with his third career double including 12 points and 12 rebounds. Monmouth started the half on a 11-2 run in the first 2:48 minutes of the second half. Drexel’s defense could not slow down the Hawks as they scored nine straight shots and 15 of their first 18 shots. Justin Robinson led the Hawks with 20 of his 28 points in the second half as his team shot 69 percent in the second half. Tavon Allen averaged 20.5 points per game coming in, but Drexel held him to 10 points all game. In the second half, the Hawks grew their lead to 11 at the 12:11 minute mark and the Dragons were never able to cut the deficit down to less than six the rest of the game. Monmouth also won the boards, finishing with 39 rebounds to 32. The Dragons offense saw four players finish in double digits. Rashawn London led all scorers for Drexel with a career-high 20 points and five of them from behind the 3-point line. Rodney Williams scored 10 of his 16 points in the first half. He also added seven rebounds in the game. Next, the Dragons travel to Anchorage, Alaska in hopes of achieving their first win for the season in the Great Alaska Shootout. The first game of the weekends tips off on Thanksgiving at midnight against UNC Asheville.
