Uncategorized Ducks Take Series Opener Over Patriots by Somerset Patriots July 20, 2015 Central Islip, NY – The Long Island Ducks (5-3, 51-27) defeated the Somerset Patriots (4-5, 54-25) 3-2 Friday evening at Bethpage Ballpark. In the bottom of the first inning designated hitter Mat Gamel slugged a home run (5) to give Somerset a 1-0 advantage. First baseman Jon Griffin clubbed a home run (11) in the ensuing half inning to even the score at 1-1. The Patriots retook the lead in the top of the third inning as left fielder Aharon Eggleston recorded a RBI sacrifice fly to make the score 2-1. The Ducks grabbed a 3-2 lead in the bottom of the fifth inning as left fielder Steve McQuail launched a two run home run (2). Billy Buckner earned the win (7-1) allowing two runs in 5.2 innings of work. Randy Boone sustained the loss (4-3) hurling six frames while scattering three runs. Ryan Kussmaul notched the save (22) pitching the final inning. The 2015 Somerset Patriots season presented by Ford will continue on the road until the Somerset Patriots return to TD Bank Ballpark for a 7:05 p.m. game against the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs on Friday, July 24th.
